MICRO ESM IS A BREAKTHROUGH IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SENSOR TECHNOLOGY TO AUTOMATICALLY IDENTIFY AND TRACK RADAR

 

 

ESM (Electronic Support Measures) is a key capability in the defence sector realised through the detection and identification of radar signals. The deployment of ESM has, to date, always been limited to large high value platforms, such as warships or fighter aircraft.  This is because ESM systems have typically needed to be large and complex, which has simultaneously also made them tend to be power hungry, heavy and expensive. Micro ESM changes all of this.

A Micro ESM system is so small that it can be carried in the hand or mounted on very light unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s).  It can be standalone or networked to create an intelligent array along a border, or coastline, or on a battlefield.  It can be low enough in cost to be deployed in high volume.  Such changes not only open up ESM to civil use, but have the capability to completely change the way that ESM contributes to the safety of our armed forces in hostile environments.
